Trekking in the beautiful Jomsom Valley

Few places in the world have such a splendid variety of natural beauty as the Annapurna region. It is a rare combination of long arrays of snow-capped peaks, crystal clear lakes, turbulent rivers with deep gorges, Tibetan monasteries, hot-springs, and picturesque villages inhabited by simple and friendly ethnic people.

Itinerary

Day01: Arrive Kathmandu
Arrive Kathmandu and Transfer to Hotel.

Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing 1/2 Day sightseeing to Monkeys Temple and trekking permit arrangements. O/N in Kathmandu

Day 03: Kathmandu -Pokhara Drive or fly to 200 km. west from Kathmandu. Meet the trekking crew in Pokhara.

Day 04: Pokhara - Lumle - Tikhe Dhunga ( 1491m)
We drive to the large village of Lumle and the hamlet of Chandrakot. From here the trail descends steeply to Birethanti on the banks of the Modi Khola. We follow the east bank of the Bhurungi with some detours to avoid cliffs. Along the way, various hamlets offer ample camping possibilities but if Ghorepani is the objective for the next day it is better to push on to Tikhe Dhunga.

Day 05: Tikhe Dhunga - Ghorepani(2774m)
The trail ascends a steep stone staircase to Ulleri village then more pleasantly through rhododendron forest. There is a hut with water and a small camp site about 1 hr. above Ulleri, and further, on the stream is followed, providing water for a meal stop. Arrive at the top of the Ghorepani pass and Camp there.

Day 06: Ghorepani - Tatopani
The downhill trail follows the Jomsom route. Across the rhododendron forest, we pass some small villages and walk along side the Ghaja Khola. In Tatopani (Hot Spring) there are natural hot water springs - time for a "Scrub-up".

Day 07: Tatopani - Ghasa
A lovely day walking along Kaligandaki riverside, gradually ascending with transition into sub-tropical vegetation. Very interesting suspension bridges to be crossed that makes your trek exciting. Arrive Ghasa an ethnic Thakali village.

Day 08: Ghasa - Marpha
The trails follows the Kaligandaki river through the narrow gorge, passing through Thakali traditional villages. Marpha is the main inhabitants of the ethnic group of Thakalis.

Day 09 Marpha - Kagbeni
An easy and lovely day walking along the riverside to Jomsom the district headquarters of Mustang district. This is the most interesting town in the area. The spectacular views of Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri, Tukuche peak and Dhampus peak will make you buy some extra rolls of film. Arrive Kagbeni, the entry point of the upper Mustang for overnight stop.

Day 10: Kagbeni - Muktinath
Gradually ascend to Muktinath one of the most important sites for Hindus. The holy water flows from the 108 carved spouts surrounding the Bishnu Temple in a grove of secret poplars.

Day 11 Muktinath - Jomsom Return trek to Jomsom.

Day 12 Jomsom - Pokhara Fly to Pokhara, free day.

Day 13 Pokhara - Kathmandu

Day 14 Kathmandu Free day on your own in Kathmandu.

Day 15 Kathmandu Airport Transfer After breakfast drive to Airport for your onward destination

Day 01: Kathmandu - Pokhara
Fly by Buddha Air at 30.05 and reach to Pokhara 3:25. Hotel Check In and evening sightseeing at Pokhara and Lakeside.

Day 02: Pokhara - Jomsom - Kagbeni 2810mtr. 4-5 Hrs
At 6.30 Fly to Jomsom Cosmic Air and reach to Jomsom at 7.00 and trek to The trail ahead leads to Eklaibhatti, Kagbeni . Flights to jomsom operate only in the morning as it gets very windy in the afternoons

Day 03: Kagbeni - Muktinath
We make a steep climb up the Jhong Khola valley leaving Kagbeni, we then join the direct trail to Muktinath just below Khingar at 3200m. From here trail continues high above the Jhong Khola to the imposing village of Jharkot at 3500m which is well worth exploring. We, therefore, take a break here for lunch before continuing on to Muktinath.
As we leave Jharkot, the trail climbs up to our ultimate destination of Muktinath at 3800m. We initially visit Ranipauwa, there are many teahouses and shops. Our overnight stay will be here. Further 10 minutes walks up the hill, we will be rewarded with the actual religious site of Muktinath & this area is kept free of hotels and camping sites. Muktinath is a pilgrimage center for Buddhists and Hindus. There we can see Tibetan traders as well as sadhus from the far south of India. There is shrines in a grove of trees including a Buddhists gompa & the Vishnu temple of Jwalamai. An old temple nearby shelters a spring and natural gas jets that provide Muktinath's famous eternal flame. It's the earth-water - fire combination that accounts for Muktinath's great religious significance. Trekking Time 4-5 Hrs

Day 04: Muktinath -Kagbeni-Eklaibhatti- Jomsom Over night.

Day 05: Early Morning Fly to Pokhara and back to Kathmandu
